Boris Pintado

Boris Pintado, a Spanish-born artist based in Montreal, is currently pursuing a master's degree in visual and media arts at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). His work has been exhibited in numerous cultural institutions and museums in Quebec, including the Centre national d'exposition de Jonquière and the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Mont-Saint-Hilaire. His public installations have also found their place in the cities of Gaspé, Sherbrooke, and Beloeil.

Through his practice, Boris Pintado explores the polysemic concept of "relationship.” A theme he approaches both in its etymological sense of transmission and testimony, and in its aspect of interdependent connection between individuals and their environment. His narratives draw from various sources such as architecture, myths, geology, geography, and family history.

Pintado's distinctive technique relies on the precise use of stencils and masking for meticulous control of the material, while exploring texture and patterns. More specifically, his method involves applying graphite powder or charcoal on paper prepared using adhesive tapes. This approach closely resembles the process of analog photographic development, where a dimension of deliberate uncertainty prevails and the result unfolds gradually.
